The area around Crossways Farm is great for walking and cycling, whether you prefer flat or hilly landscapes. There are many footpaths in and around Hitcham, with enjoyable circular walks of varying distances easily accessible on foot from the house. Cycling around the beautiful surrounding villages and country lanes is another relaxing way to make the most of the area.
A local map will be provided on arrival, and I can give further details about walk and bike ride times and characteristics. Ordnance Survey Explorer maps of the whole of Suffolk and the Norfolk Broads are available for you to borrow, as well as adult and child bicycles of different sizes, helmets, 2 child seats and a double trailer.

There are also many interesting walking and cycling destinations reachable by car, including long-distance footpaths and cycle routes. Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Stour Valley (‘Constable Country’ - 25 minutes’ drive) is a particularly rewarding place to walk and explore (see also Flatford, National Trust).
